John A. Boff, RPh

John graduated from Ohio Northern University’s School of Pharmacy in 1978. After several years working with a chain pharmacy, he found their lack of patient interaction unsatisfying and opened his own pharmacy. He joined PCCA in 1990 to learn more about compounding and has continued to expand his knowledge of compounding up to this day. He is a preceptor and teacher of pharmacy students from both the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Wingate University. He believes that everyone needs to take an active role in their health and that an ounce of prevention is worth far more than a pound of cure.

Nurdan Kopp, CPhT

Nurdan has been working as a pharmacy technician since 1982 when she worked for Kerr Drug in New York. She was first exposed to compounding in 1999 at The Medicine Shoppe when she would watch John customize medications for his patients. Since that time she has mastered all the forms of compounding necessary to provide patients with individualized prescriptions. Although she enjoys compounding all medications, what she enjoys most is making creams and ointments with the ointment mill; no doubt due to the huge impact that the neurological creams have had on her patients’ lives. “I love finding new or alternative ways to help our patients feel better” according to Nurdan.

Amy Ray, CPhT

Amy started out in the mortgage loan business but got tired of sitting at a desk all day, so she decided to take courses to become a pharmacy technician.  She saw a posting for a job at the Medicine Shoppe, and after an interview she knew this was what she wanted to do. She has worked as a certified pharmacy technician for 6 ½ years and has worked in compounding for 4 years. She loves her job and never minds going to work since no 2 days are ever the same.  Although she doesn’t have a favorite compound, working with coal tar preparations is her least favorite. She loves learning to compound new things and is always willing to take on a challenge to help a customer.
